The problem

You're consumed by the work

The job in front of you, the client who needs an answer now, the fire that started this morning. So you handle it — by hand, again, like last week and the week before.

Some days the work isn't the fire. Some days you have to work on the firetruck, so it's ready when the fire comes. Some days you install the smoke alarm, so the fire doesn't start at all. That's the work that actually changes things — and it's the work that never gets done, because you're too busy surviving the week to build the thing that would end the fight.

It's your job to see it before it happens. But being ahead means doing more work, and you're already past full. That's the trap: the thinking that would get you out is the thing you have no time to do.

The Assessment

We don't do free

Free means you have time to give away. Our time is valuable — and so is yours. If you're looking for something for nothing, we don't have anything for you.

But if you're willing to invest the one resource you can't get back — your time — then we'll meet you there. You bring the time and the seriousness. We bring the work, at no cost to you, long before anyone talks about money.

How the Assessment works

It starts with a conversation. A set time, forty-five minutes — not a sales call dressed up as a favor. The first session exists to expose the real problem, which is almost never the one you came in naming. Most engagements don't stop at one; four to eight sessions is common, because digging into how a business actually runs takes more than one sitting.

Good tools pay for themselves

We don't build tools. We build effective solutions. A home health agency we worked with was drowning in compliance — the state requires documents on file and proof of due diligence on every hire. We built them automated intelligence backed by real tracking: an interface that kept them compliant and gave their staff a clear path. The tool paid for itself in time, in stress, and in audits that stopped being a crisis.

How we work

A real engagement, in three stages.

Stage one

Assessment

Forty-five-minute sessions, repeated until the real problem is on the table. We dig until we find what's actually costing you — in time, in money, in people you can't afford to lose. At no charge.

Stage two

Design

We design the fix on paper before anyone writes a line of code. You see exactly what we'd build, why it solves the problem, and what it costs — before the conversation about money begins.

Stage three

Build

We build it. Tight scope, real systems, in production. No "phase two." When we're done, the problem that was costing you isn't your problem anymore.

Who we are

Built by operators, not advisors

Before Bussey and Bussey, we built White Shovel — a landscape design firm — and the software behind it. We built the systems and the design tools ourselves, and they turned an ordinary salesperson into a capable designer. The efficiency was real enough that we could hand homeowners a finished design for free and still win the work. Then we sold it.

We've spent the years since building software and tools for service companies across industries. Research is the foundation of good development, and ours is solid. We're often surprised by what people assume can't be done with AI or software — and rarely surprised by what turns out to be possible once someone digs. We find the solutions. We bring them to you.

The moment

The market just opened. Are you ready?

The large companies are using AI to cut their workforce — and in doing so, they're handing the open market back to small business. The talent is available. The tools that used to belong only to the big players are within reach for the first time.

But reach isn't the same as ready. Do you have the systems to absorb that opportunity? The tools to compete with operations ten times your size? We exist to make the answer yes.
